Ghana striker Majeed Waris is reportedly a man in demand as French club St Etienne and other two unnamed clubs have joined the race to secure his signature after FC Nantes failed to meet the deadline date to exercise their €6 million purchase option.
Waris, who joined FC Nantes on loan from Portuguese side FC Porto on a season-long loan deal in the summer, was impressive in the just-ended campaign.
The 27-year-old made 24 league appearances for the Canaries, scoring five goals and recording three assists to help them finish 11th on the standings.
Vahid Halilhodzic’s men had until June 1 to exercise their option to make the deal permanent €for 6 million.
However, they refused to the amount FC Porto are demanding as they believe that the amount is too high for him.
There are therefore suggestions that he could be heading to fellow French side St Etienne and some Chinese and Gulf clubs in the coming weeks if the right offer is submitted.
Waris is part of the 29-man provisional squad called up by Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah ahead of the forthcoming Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.
